QuestionCan you set individual cameras to record for 24hrs, while others are set to just record motion triggered activity? Can video quality be lowered for individual cameras? Thereby increasing the amount of activity captured before being overwritten on dvr

- Answer Good afternoon. Yes to all of your questions. You can use the record menu in the DVR to set certain cameras to record continuously and others to only motion record. And you can lower the recording resolution to save hard drive (HDD) space. QuestionI see the DVR output as HDMI. Are there USB ports for downloading a selected portion of a recording? What if I needed to share an event that was captured on one of the cameras? How would I accomplish that?

- Answer Good afternoon. The USB ports are used to 1) connect the USB wired mouse to navigate the menus from a TV / monitor and 2) to back up recordings to a USB flash drive or external HDD. So, recordings can be saved to a USB flash drive and shared easily. Additionally, if you have the app downloaded to you Smart Device and connected to your recorder, you can save recordings and snapshot images directly to your Smart Device and share them that way. - Answer You can playback recordings from the app on your Smart Device, or from a TV or monitor. From a TV or monitor you would access the Playback menu and search for the recording you want to playback using the available filters (such as date, time and event type, etc.). Please note, by default the hard drive is set to auto-overwrite when it becomes full. So, once full it will begin recording over older videos to make way for new ones. QuestionCan i watch 4 (or possibly 8) cameras simutaneously out the hdmi port to a tv? i don't want internet and I don't want to record, only multi-camera viewing live on a TV. Can I disable recording and the internet and still view multiple cameras on TV? Thx

- Answer Yes, that is an option. You can simply live view the cameras from your TV or monitor using the provided HDMI cable. Internet and recording is not required. Live view only, is an option, and there are multiple camera view layouts (quad and 8 are options) to suit your viewing needs. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer Yes, you can switch the recording mode from motion to continuous, to record 24/7. If you switch to continuous record, you would still be able to select to receive motion alerts when a motion event is detected by one of the cameras. Keep in mind, continuous record, will eat through your available hard drive space at a much quicker rate. Once the hard drive becomes full, it is set to auto-overwrite old footage. - Answer Cameras Mount via two smallish wood screws. I usually swap them out for larger screws. I’ve even stuck one of my cameras on top of a PVC enclosure by mounting it to the cover.

QuestionI have nightowl pt2 161 wired 16 channel 8 camera 1-TB. How can I delete HDD1 storage back to 900GB. The free size shows 425GB now. I have mouse with menu at bottom left corner of monitor. After storage been deleted do I need to reboot system.

- Answer Please refer to the product manual for this system which covers how to reformat the hard drive. Essentially, you just need to reformat the HDD to delete recordings. If set to default, the system is set to auto overwrite and will automatically overwrite old recordings to make room for new ones.
