Good Morning Mike. You can set the recording preference for each channel individually. You can motion record on some, 24/7 record on others and even schedule record. Once logged into your DVR, these settings can all be set and changed within the Record Menu. Under premium conditions, a 2 TB HDD can last up to 24 months. However, with 16 cameras recording 24/7 you may realistically get a couple of weeks. There is no sd slot to save the footage to, but you can backup recordings to a USB drive.
