The individual cameras do not have storage capabilities, but an external hard drive can be attached to the DVR. I would recommend a power source with a battery back-up if you're concerned about power failure because the system will instantly shut down similar to a desktop computer. I wouldn't suggest placing the DVR in the attic due to the temperature extremes (it is a computer) and possible moisture. Night vision image quality decreases fairly quickly depending on darkness and distance. I wouldn't count on picking up license plates at night without having direct view from fairly close. You can zoom, but it is a digital zoom so it works more like the zoom on your phone rather than the zoom on a nice camera. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the cameras are POE, power over internet and connect directly to the NVR, where it is stored int the hard disk. For back purposes, you can use a flash card connected to the USB port in the back of the NVR.
