- Answer Each cameras will need to be connected to power, yes. Your system will come with two camera power adapter and two 4-way power splitters to allow you to connect up to 4 cameras to one adapter. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

QuestionCan these cameras be set up for continuous recording or is it by motion detection only?

- Answer Yes, you set up these cameras to record 24/7 (Continuous). But note, this will fill up your HDD at a much quicker pace and the DVR will automatically begin overwriting old footage when it becomes full. You can deselect this option if you would like to backup recordings to a flash drive and then manually reformat the HDD. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer I do not know; my camera system is scheduled to be installed tomorrow Dec 9 2017. I did already speak to a customer service rep from Night Owl, though, and they are very helpful. I suggest you go to their website for the contact number and ask your question directly.

- Answer With few exceptions, yes you should be able to use a new DVR with existing cameras. Our AHD, XHD and HDA Series DVRs are backwards compatible. For instance, this 1080p system will function with our analog, 720p and 1080p cameras. Note: Our 3MP and 5MP systems have Class 2 cabling that must be used with those cameras. However, the BNC cabling you currently have installed will work with our DVR systems up to 1080p. Thank you!

QuestionHow far will the sensor pick up motion at night and mounted under the eve of the house overlooking a driveway. The system I have now will not pick motion up very well.

- Answer Good Afternoon. All 8 cameras can record in 1080L at the same time. 1080L is a mix between 720p and 1080p. We cannot provide the number of hours the DVR will record as this is determined by your setup and settings. The number of cameras you have connected and the record settings will heavily affect this. With all 8 cameras connected, the record and playback FPS is 15. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!
