  • QuestionWhat happens during the daytime if an intruder is on my property?

    Asked by Ginger.

    • Answer You most likely will get robbed. But the camera will record and you can set it up to where it alerts you when it detects people or cars. Also it can make siren noises when it detects movement.

  • QuestionIf you choose to leave the light on, will it turn off in day light?

    Asked by Jj.

    • Answer The floodlight is motion-activated, not controlled by daylight. If motion is detected, it can turn on even during the day. There is no automatic daylight shut-off based on ambient light.

  • QuestionWhat happens if the power goes out and comes back on?

    Asked by Mike.

    • Answer If the power goes out, the camera will turn off temporarily. Once power is restored, it automatically reboots and reconnects on its own. If you’re using a battery backup (UPS), the system can stay powered during an outage and continue recording locally, even without internet. You just wouldn’t be able to view it remotely until your network is back online. — Night Owl SP Digital Support Team

  • Questionis there a minimum wifi speed needed for this to interface with wifi connectivity

    Asked by aclobos.

    • Answer This floodlight camera does not require Wi-Fi for the video signal since it is a wired camera that connects directly to a compatible Night Owl recorder. The recorder itself will need an internet connection if you want to use the mobile app for remote viewing. There is no minimum Wi-Fi speed required for the camera to function, but for smooth remote viewing through the app, we generally recommend: • At least 5 Mbps upload speed at the home where the recorder is installed • A stable connection (wired Ethernet to the recorder is ideal) If you have any questions about your setup, we’d be happy to help. • QuestionCan the lights be turned on and off from inside switch if just want to illuminate the back door area for outside activities. ?

    Asked by Safetyfirst.

    • Answer No — the floodlights on the Night Owl Outdoor Wired Floodlight Deterrence 3MP HD+ Camera cannot be controlled by a standard wall light switch. They are built into the camera and are turned on/off through: Motion activation (default) Manual control in the Night Owl Protect app If you simply want the lights on for outdoor activities, you can open the app and turn them on manually, but they won’t operate from a physical indoor switch like a regular floodlight.

Milage will vary depending on the size of the dvr or sd card and also you recording settings. It can be timed or through motion and differnt sensitivities.

  • Questioncan this be mounted from the soffit or is it just a wall mounted device?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Thank you for the question and happy to support. The floodlight is made to easily replace an existing light that has a standard housing box to leverage the wiring for power. If you mounted from a soffit you'd need to source power from somewhere. If you have a gang box with power running to it you should be able to leverage that with some flexibility of mounting angle.
