The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera does not have an autofocus motor. You will need to use an AF-S or AF-P NIKKOR lens to get the full autofocus capabilities from the lens. E-type lenses will also allow you to autofocus. These three lens types have focus motors built in. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II Telephoto Zoom lens that is listed here is fully compatible with the Nikon D3400 and will be able to autofocus.
