Why is this $1599? null

This is a premium lens from Nikon, and is priced as such. The lens was designed with a special aesthetic in mind, making very 'dream-like' images, and rending the subject in a very three-dimensional way. It's a boutique lens, and is priced as such. I use this lens and love it, and own the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G, which is also a great lens.
