“Why does it not turn on if memory card is in? Just bought camera and thought it didn't work. Was going to return, but took memory card out before boxing up. Then touched the power button and it came on. Tried with the memory card back in and it wouldn't turn on. What's up with that?”

This sounds like there could be a problem with your memory card. Please check the COOLPIX L830 Manual or contact Nikon Support for information on memory cards that are approved for use with the L830.
