It is recommended that a solar filter is used when trying to take an image of the sun, especially during a total eclipse. This is to protect the camera sensor from being damaged. The Nikon COOLPIX P900 digital camera is extremely easy to use and takes a 67mm filter size to cover the lens. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, has a specific "moon" setting. If possible buy the Photographers guide to nikon p900 by Alexander S. White to get all the use of cameras settings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This would be an awesome camera for that. I am a photographer, as well as a photojournalist, and had to buy this camera after reading all the reviews about what it could do. I have attached a photo of the moon that I shot with the Coolpix P900. It takes awesome shots. HOWEVER, there is one thing I would caution you about. If you are going to shoot the moon, use a tripod. Other than that, it is a great point and shoot and does a great job, not matter what I've put it through. On the downside, for some, it does not shoot 4k video. That's not a problem for me or many others. Get the camera, you'll love it.
