• No pellets are only used for smoking. You don’t have to smoke every time .

• You only need to use the wood pellets when you want to add Smokey flavor to your food. It will need wood pellets every time you use the "Smoker" setting. But if you are Baking, Roasting, Grilling, Dehydrating Air Frying, then its totally up to you to smoke or not to smoke. There is a button to fire up the smoking process that can be hit (or not hit) depending on your preference.
