I recommend going with just a regular 2ds since young child can miss handle or drop it. The hinge will break then you don’t have system that works. Regular 2ds is flat aka door stopper but it’s lighter and flatter. iPad is too very expensive even cost a lot more to repair. Don’t recommend iPad or 2ds xl but a 2ds
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its definitely appropriate for a 5 yr old. An iPad is a whole different story and is like apples to oranges when comparing to a handheld video game system. 2DSXL has less for you to ‘setup’ in terms of parental controls. Most Nintendo games are family targeted and tend to offer more games for a much younger audience. Better option? Depends on the end result you’re looking to achieve. Both will keep a kid busy. The iPad will keep you both busy (you monitoring, kid exploring).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe depends on what games you get and how well your child can read or how well they are with electronics
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s for any age really. There is a lot of E shop games(2ds digital store) that keep you pulled in for hours, it’s easier to restrict and watch what your 5 year old is doing compared to an iPad. If it’s netflix or Hulu or YouTube the 5 year old wants, the 2ds has that in the E shop as well. Nintendo makes there games pretty well and the last installment of Pokémon for the DS line is coming out this month so might as well get your hands on that with the new 2DS. The downside with an iPad, the games are a limited experience, you played one; you played them all. and most of all, iPads are fragile. Good luck with the decision!
