What I am hearing Nokia Mobile team saying is that this phone is mislabeled as a dual sim phone and that you have to physically change sims to use a second service. I've done some more research. Only now are a few dual 4G LTE phones available on the market. I've found some indications that the 2018 Nokia 6.1 can receive a software update to allow it to operate in 4G on two services (sounds like it really is dual sim) if it has the right firmware. I could not find anything to indicate which 6.1 phones might have the right firmware. Apparently, the Nokia 7 is supposed to be dual 4G LTE. Look for terms like "dual stand-by" in the specification when shopping for your next phone. The phones are still not all-the-time 4G on both services (battery life concerns) but both access the 4G antenna at the same time in a stand-by manner. I'm interpreting this to mean that when you get a call (some of us still use phones for talking) on a line, that one becomes full-time 4G and the other drops to 3G or lower. I would also assume the same behavior for texting, data usage, and so forth. I'm just hoping that, by setting my one line to be my primary data line in 4G, a phone call/SMS/MMS/etc. on the other line will allow it to go 4G for that period of time. Perhaps somebody should look at producing a dual 5G phone?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read that the dual tray can either be a SIMs and a memory card or a dual SIMs card. If you choose to do a dual SIMs card then the second card would be at 3g most of the time then 2g if the service area your in can't support a 3g for what you are doing on the phone.

To switch back and forth you would need to have both plans active and switch the SIM card each time you want to swap between T-Mobile and Consumer Cellular. Hope this helps!
