Downgraded Version of Nokia 6.1
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apparently on HMD Global Nokia's website the specs outlined for this phone displays 4GB RAM and 64 GB Storage, However; this version has been downgraded to 3GB RAM and 32GB Storage. How is this even possible? The processor is a little slow for me, even though it is running Android One. There is a bit of lag between switching apps. I would go for a different phone to be honest. However; the build quality is impeccable, I love the design and feel of the phone but sadly not the perfformance to my expectations.

Perfect Cell Phone for Me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being of a different generation and not in need of a flagship phone, this Nokia 6.1 is a perfect fit for me. It is faster than my previous one and has everything that I will need. It charges fast and holds the charge for a few days. The camera is pretty good. I am very happy with this purchase.

Very Frustrating, expected better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, it has been 6 months with this phone, and it has been frustrating from day one. I really thought the specs were great for a $269 phone, but it has been a real dud. It constantly freezes in every aspect. User Interface, Camera, every app. It is never ready to work when you need it. I have missed dozens of photos because the camera would not start. I have taken photos (I thought) that were never recorded into a file. I have waited dozens and dozens of times for all the apps to work. Numerous "not responding" pop up messages. Photos below are typical every time I use it: any app, any process. Very disappointed, seems like I have purchased a $269 paperweight.

Best Unlocked International Phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for some unlocked smart-phone which can be used in US and in India as well. I found this best as per my requirement of latest android + support of all LTE bands including B 40 with 2300 mh frequency which is supported by Jio LTE NW in India.

Dependable, good features and great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We researched reviews and other sources intensely to find a new phone that had 1) decent speed on benchmarks 2) average to high battery life 3) decent brightness, for outdoor use etc 4) reliable brand quality and reliablity and 5) the newest version of Android, and good manufacturer support for timely upgrades. We were not overly worried about the camera but of course we wanted it to be decent. And obviously, we wanted all this without spending top dollar. If you do the digging we did, you will find it hard to meet all these criteria in one phone! BUT the Nokia 6.1 does it and we recommend it readily. If you want the *fastest* phone with the *brightest* screen and the *longest* battery life, you will have to spend *two or maybe three times the price* of this phone, And even for that money there are compromises, so we are very pleased with the Nokia's value. After a month of use we are please to say that its speed is entirely adequate for our needs. This is a notable factor, because when shopping you will have to think about the processor, and how many cores it has, and the clock speed, and the amount of working RAM. On this phone, those factors are "above average" but not -- on paper at least -- at the flagship level. For most apps I do not think you will notice or care what the paper specs say. It is fast to use. And given the multi-hundred dollar price advantage versus those phones, this is a perfect level for us and I'm sure it is fine for most people. You can have 2 or 3 apps running at once and not notice a major speed hit. Honestly it is more impressive than we expected. If you care more about the camera than anything, well you might want a different phone, but I think that is a mistake on your part (!) because our research shows that fancy camera features always mean a trade-off in some other important area. The Nokia is perfectly fine for most people. It has Carl Zeiss optics, and you can find photographers reviewing the phone who think it is great when using the manual adjustment features. With those caveats, now consider this: the phone is made from a solid block of aluminum. NOT glass. Dropping it might break the front (although it is Gorilla Glass) but you will not be able to shatter the body of the phone. I think this is a huge deal. This phone has "Android One" which is an arrangement whereby Google guarantees to provide software patches and updates, *promptly* for at least 2 years (might be longer, you can check). Our phones came with Android Oreo 8,1 -- and have already had two small updates in 30 days! I think this is another huge deal. We have not traveled far enough to test phone reception in diverse settings, but others have and you can look that up. It is rock solid for us so far. It pairs easily with our Wifi, sends and receives texts including pictures, etc. I can print from the phone to my wi-fi capable printer with almost no effort, really handy. You can connect with any popular streaming service and have music in the background while using other apps. You can watch movies on it. Basically it does all the stuff you might want to do. Other features -- this phone has NFC, which you do not find in some cheaper phones. It has an earphone jack (!). Its fingerprint sensor is very well placed on the back, and works easily. At this price, very few phones are fully water proof and this one does not claim to be. To get that one feature means giving up much of what I like about this one, and probably spending more. I don't think it is worth that trouble -- in my family, nobody has ever dropped a phone into water, and I do not know why it is talked about so much. I think it is overly hyped but in any case you will not get it below $300 with all these other features, period. Put another way -- you *are* likely to drop a phone onto a hard surface sooner or later. This phone should do better in that situation than some all-glass phones with waterproofing. Going forward, I think more and more apps will use advanced connections like NFC, and wi-fi calling, etc. Your wired connectors will be USB type C. You will want the operating system to be current and well-maintained. You will want to be able to make calls, hear and be heard, send texts and emails, and run any mainstream app reliably. This phone does all that, and few phones in this price range can check all those boxes. You may well have different priorities but as of mid-2018 you won't find many --if any -- phones for $270 that can do all that I have described here. So, yes we are very happy with ours!

Not your father's "budget" phone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In this price range the word "budget" gets tossed around a lot. Well, that used to be a bad word when it came to Android phones and users who wanted a fluid experience and a phone that didn't feel like it would break if you looked at it wrong. Things have come a long way and fast. The build quality in this phone is excellent, Feels like a nice, substantial piece of hardware in hand. Fingerprint sensor, while small, reacts quickly. Camera is good, the app starts quickly and snaps fast. Low light performance is average for a smart phone camera. Overall performance is snappy and the interface is uncluttered thanks to this being an Android One phone. That means you get stock android, no overlays, no carrier apps, just quick and efficient stock Android. It also means you are first in line for security and system updates as well. Battery life has been very good so far. I have 3 e-mail accounts set to push mail as it arrives, I run Pandora every morning when working out and play a couple of games as well and have no problem running all day without plugging in. Highly recommend if you want a high quality price, but don't have a high quality budget (there's that word again!!).

Not 4GB of RAM
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great phone, love the build quality and speed. Part of Android One, so it should see quick updates for 2 years. The problem I have is I bought this phone under false advertising. Best Buy had the device labeled as 4GB of RAM when in fact there is only 3GB of RAM. I reached out to Best buy on Twitter with no response. I am returning the device because I really was looking forward to 4GB of RAM. Hope I'm not accessed a restock fee for Best buy mistake.

Beyond expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone after a bout of terrible entry level phones and could not have been more pleased. I have had Galaxy notes, iPhones, blackberries, etc. This phone feels more like a productivity tool and a computer in my hand than any of the others. The dual SIM setup is perfect for my work line, although beware its one or the other between an SD card or a second SIM, and the software runs nicely because it is raw Android. The build of the phone is solid and well planned, although I would have liked to see the power and volume buttons lower or on opposing sides. Be mindful the flash sits low on the back so you keep your hand off of it. Note: deny the camera app access to your location to avoid a temporary Android bug that crashes the camera app. Battery life is phenomenal and it charges so fast. I came from an iphone 8 plus to this and am thrilled.

The phone to buy for under $250
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched phones for under $250 for weeks and every time I ran across reviews for this one, the consensus was this was the phone to buy. I'm glad I did. The build quality is rock solid and its performance is on par with most flagship models. Having androidone as the OS is stellar too. lightning quick and smooth. About the only drawbacks are the camera isn't so great in low light and the speaker is often easy to cover up while holding it. I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a pure android experience in a budget phone.

What I expected and more
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is responsive, easy to set up, very inexpensive compared to other phones. I like the way the address book app works. It is simple for me to use. I am terrified of dropping it so I bought a 7 dollar protective cover over the glass and it still functions perfectly well with that on it. It has an app for everything possible. It showed up precisely on time. It worked first time with my new sim card and old number. It logs me in to many sites without having to constantly remember passwords. It is smaller than my old phone so it is not as bulky to carry with me. It is a bit on the heavy side but it is rugged also and does not flex or twist at all when under stress with the solid aluminum body. I had a few problems setting up a few minor things but the wealth of Google pages and YouTube videos on these very subjects helped me iron out the minor issues I did run in to. I could not possibly be any happier with this phone. Some people say the camera is a bit weak in low light but compared to my old phone the camera is very fast and takes better videos and pictures. Under extreme use with gaming and camera use the processor has not gotten even slightly warm once. YES! BUY THIS PHONE. You will not regret it unless you absolutely must have the Mercedes Benz camera experience this phone is a power horse and is neck-and-neck to all other phones on the market at a really affordable price on nearly any budget. Did I say it was fast and responsive even with the camera app? Yes, I did and it truly is. Buy it now! It is a gorgeous phone! (make sure you the 2018 version of this phone) :)

Great Android phone for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't buy $1000 smartphones, and I don't spend $1000 a year on my service plan either. If you do, then you won't be interested in the Nokia 6.1. But for less than $200 (thanks to Best Buy's price matching), I got a great Android phone. The Nokia 6.1 feels solid, and the professional reviews have commented on its durability. (I'm not going to intentionally test the durability of mine. Sorry.) It runs the latest Android version, and isn't loaded with bloatware. I haven't had time to see the promised major OS updates, but the security updates I've received have gone smoothly. It doesn't skimp on the built-in sensors. I must admit that unlocking the phone with the fingerprint sensor is very convenient, even though I thought it was a pointless frill. The resolution of the selfie camera is as good as the main camera on my previous phone, and the resolution of the main camera is twice that. The battery life has been very good. "OK Google" makes voice searches/commands very easy. And the Nokia 6.1 looks really nice too. I'm still getting used to some of the differences between my previous Android phone and the Nokia 6.1. The Android OS has changed between v4.4 (KitKat) and v9 (Pie). Like all the other Android phones available now, the Nokia 6.1 is larger than I'm used to, and it won't fit my old dashboard mount. My old micro USB connectors won't fit its USB C port. The hardware buttons are in different places than I'm used to. So are the software buttons, and the Home button is now a software button. The control is different for changing the camera resolution and/or aspect ratio. But I will get used to those differences. This is definitely the best phone I've owned, and was still within my budget.

Intuitive for a Millennial
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone as recommended by my brother and because the price was just low enough for me to afford. It is working exactly as I’d hoped it would, and I’m loving finding interesting functions I hadn’t expected in these years I have gone without a smartphone...as a millennial. Considering I’m accustomed to using an iPad, I’d say that the operating system is slightly less intuitive, but not to any degree that I’d deem frustrating. Nearly every setting tweak I’ve searched for I’ve quickly found on my own (without having to search the web for an answer), and that is a major plus in my book. It’s a bit large (wide) to operate one-handed for my small, female hands, but it’s nothing that a PopSocket won’t rectify. Overall, I’m sufficiently satisfied! It’s totally spiffy!

Great Phone for less than $300!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone to replace my Nexus 6p, which started having battery problems. I've had the phone for about 2 weeks. When I first received the phone, I had problems with the speakers (no sound) during a call. After the recent update to Android 8.1.0, it was fixed. This phone is not as quick or smooth as my Nexus 6p, but it's a great alternative, and cheaper!

Good phone for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have a locked LG V20, which I love, but it is filled with bloatware. Additionally, the software is getting aged, and the phone will eventually be obsolete. So I picked this one up for being a new model. My overall comments: pure android, that's good. I can add only the apps i want. The processor is smooth and fast. Very responsive. Screen size ok, would like it to be at least a 5.7 screen, but I'll live with it. Fits my hand well. Screen clarity is good. 32gb mem. Would like a 64gb option. Sound/call quality ok, but not outstanding. Build quality is very good. Camera is ok, not outstanding, but acceptable. Will get software upgrades for awhile. Only email program is google, so it has that glitch where emails to myself dated 12/31/69 always are loading. Very annoying Google!! Google needs to add select all in the inbox, so i can add all those along with the ones in the inbox to delete. Insyead of individually. But that's on Google not Nokia. So as a back up phone, or a budget smartphone it's very good. Price less than 200 vs 350 or ALOT more makes this phone a good value. Comparing this to my V20 is somewhat unfair. I paid probably 450 for it 3 years ago. So we're talking alot of money difference for not that much increase in satisfaction between the two. If the nokia had been out at that time i would have picked it because of pricing. And would have been quite happy with it in the long run. But as I said, even though I love my V20, I'm also not willing to spend 500+ on a phone.

Pretty good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best new phone for the price. Has a few problems with ram sometimes being overwhelmed or the phone taking a few seconds to wake up even with no background apps, but overall pretty good. Great picture quality, screen resolution, sound quality (though the speaker is on the bottom left), doesn't have all the useless extra apps from carrier phones, looks cool with that iron trim, dual facing camera I use for recording my drives (insurance), has some cool apps I haven't seen in awhile. The screen is a bit small and they take away like 1/4 inch on the bottom that could've been used as input pad or something. Slow to respond at times (not often), not too many customizable cases (to he expected). Overall, it's better than the phones I've had before and a lot cheaper than any brand new phone out there. Great phone to get for those clumsy people who keep dropping and breaking their phone (my kid dropped mine twice and not even a scratch).

Great phone.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a person that needs the best phone, and refuse to pay $700+ for one. Read previous comments that it's not fast and freezes up. Has not been the case for me. The phone performs great and looks great. I am using T-Mobile service and works flawless. Only downside is the lack of cases available, just have to search for them.

Right for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a "budget" phone, this Nokia smartphone is a great value. The screen is great: IPS LCD @ 5.5 in and 1080p, it's bright enough and the resolution is very good. Speed is decent, on Android One, running Android O with guaranteed OS upgrades and security patches I think was what really sold it for me.
