Humdog Hello there. Although this bike does allow you to cycle backward, it would not provide resistance as you do so (as of 2021). Most of our bikes have a freewheel mechanism (clutch) that allows you to stop pedaling any time without slowing down the flywheel. This bike is one of those models, therefore, if you try pedaling backward it will not turn the flywheel that produces the resistance. Some of our popular bikes that will engage the flywheel both forward and backward are less expensive models because they don’t have a heavy-duty flywheel as this one does. These bikes are used in spin classes. Some current examples (as of July 2021) would be the S22i or ProForm Studio Bike Pro.
