The popcorn maker has a removal plastic top. This plastic top is shaped like a faucet. The "faucet" end has vent slits on the top for the heat to escape upwards and funnels the popped kernels into your bowl. You remove this top to put the popcorn kernels inside and replace it before popping. On the other end of this plastic top is a place to put the scoop you use to pour in the popcorn. This scoop can be filled with butter to melt while the popcorn is popping so you can pour the melted butter onto the popped kernels.
