You only need one of any of those cards. They may have worded it poorly, but the actual minimum requirement is a GTX 970 OR 1060 (those two NVidia cards are roughly the same speed, but one generation apart, which is why they list both). Same with the AMD cards (480 or 290, not both).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you do not need both graphic cards. The reason that two is listed is because the two graphic cards shown are apart of different companies, and both have different model names (Each company has a different series name then followed by a number, usually the higher the number within the series the better and more high tech the graphics card will be. It's just to give the customer a better understanding as to what graphics cards can handle the oculus rift. If you are looking for a graphics card that is higher than the recommended specs, go on the companies websites, usually they have them in order. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The gnu was easy to instal. I had to buy a new power source. Best buy did not have the proper adaptor for the power source. I had to bur it on Amazon or it would not fit my motherboard. With the new graphics card and power source I was able to set up Oculos and play. It cost around 830.00 all together and you just can not buy a system for that amount of money brand new. Works great! remember to register the graphics card and update it. I wish it had an extra cdmi instead of the dvi cable that I also had to buy.
