Reconditioned product is defined as any product that has been returned to Olympus by any of its retail partners. Once returned, Olympus conducts a rigorous, five-point inspection of all functions and features to ensure that the item meets our quality standards. A reconditioned product will function identically to a brand-new Olympus product, although minor cosmetic blemishes may be present. Olympus supports reconditioned products with a 90-day repair warranty and a 30-day money back guarantee, excluding the cost of shipping.

Once fixed the product works like new. As for a warranty the product is usually covered by the manufacture to free of defects for a certain amount of time. If an extended warranty is available then you would have that option to purchase, but at an additional cost. The only real difference between refurbished and new is the cost. Purchasing a refurbished product will save you money.
