You can hook up this monitor to a laptop via an HDMI port. So if you have an HDMI port, then yes you can use it with your laptop. Ideally, this monitor will deliver 144Hz with a display port. As far as image quality, it will most likely improve it but bear in mind that graphics are controlled by your laptop graphic cards. Nvidia GTX cards are among the best. If your laptop is equipped with, you should be good.

You may notice, depending on your computers current resolution, that games may run actually worse! (graphics having to power two monitors, or a higher resolution than it typically runs). If your computer has a dedicated GPU (like an AMD or NVIDIA) then I would think you should have no issue. Overall, adding a monitor rarely does more than just give you a larger screen. It would not make the computer run any faster.
