• It certainly does upscale 1080p to 4k

• From Onkyo's site, the TX-NR656 allows pass through of 4K but does not upscale the picture. Your 4k TV or UHD-BD player may be upscale capable of video, so that would be your next thing to look at via your owner's manual(s).
