• I currently have 7 speakers hooked up and the sound is incredible. Easy to install and use. I really am glad the store associate recommended this.

• It can do 9. It's a 7.1 channel with the ability operate 2 more speakers in a separate room. So in essence you can use all 9 channels or in your case 8
