The signal (dvd, etc.) has to be on a scene that is broadcasting a surround sound. The surround sound speakers do not play a sound most of the time. The majority of your sound will come from the front speakers. Play a good action movie from a dvd or Blu-ray and see if it works then. I hope this helps.

Please try again later.Try plugging them into where it says rear right and left sppeakers not surround, or check the settings to make sure the receiver doesn't have a separate switch to activate surround sound, I'm more then positive by using rear speaker connection on your revceiver it will work fine ,let me know either way.
