“Once the receiver is set up with speakers, connected to TV, etc do you HAVE to use it to watch TV? Or is there an option to just bypass it and listen to the TV speakers? For example- not interested in watching Jeopardy in surround sound.”

Just don’t turn the Onkyo on, just the TV and watch your show
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know of a way to bypass receiver, however most TVs allow you to choose an alternate input such as antenna or run a second input from cable box directly to TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine are hooked up so that the receiver is the controlling piece of equipment. That's the way I prefer it. I'm sure you don't have to do that but you could probably hook it up multiple ways.
