There is no top cover. You can get the invisible shield to go over the top which I recommend. I dropped my phone onto concrete and it cracked the invisible shield. I went to Best Buy and they replaced it for free because the shield is guaranteed not to crack. However the case saved my phone. And the invisible sheet protected the glass on the front. I used to have an otter box with the plastic cover on the front. This seemed to work as well when adding the invisible shield to the front.
