Does not protect against hard drops.

Bad case. I have it and it does not cover the corners of the phone. Which is exactly where the phone hit. My screen is cracked and that is with a zagg protector too.

the phone is water resistant already and yes it is protected from drops. You can see what each otter box covers on the back of the box if you are unsure.

Given the phone is water resistant I wouldn't worry. I am concerned that the front could crack if dropped on its face. The curved edge creates the higher probability of a crack. I don't think the case covers face drops very well

This does not have a screen protector and helps the phone resist minor impacts.
