No the camera is not protected by the case.

The case comes with holes for the camera. Since it is not fully covered ( don’t know if any cases that are) and you drop the phone it may scratch the lens.

No lens is not covered it is a cut out area of case.

Not really - it covers around the camera area

It does protect it. I also bought a Zagg lense cover for glare and protection.
