• No, it doesn't play any online apps. It connects to the internet via it's ethernet port to update the players features and firmware.

• No apps of any kind. I'm assuming it has online connectivity for updates. I haven't bothered hooking mine up to the internet and the player is working just fine so it doesn't seem to be mandatory. It's a great "bare bones" player for discs.
