YES! We just tried that with ours after we saw your question. We disconnected our line line and called our cell phone and it worked perfectly! The Panasonic Phones All Rang and We answered on one of the Panasonic phones and it worked great! (hmm, never thought of that usage BUT for the many who do not have "landlines", this surely would be useful and convenient as then one's cell phone would not have to be carted all over the house with oneself).

We set her up on a cheap add to my cell plan, picked up a $20 prepaid flip phone, connected it with no problem. We just hide the cell away and as far as she knows, she still has her normal phone plan.
