A:Answer Well, we bought the phone, and found that nothing works without batteries. In other words, the corded phone does not get a dial tone without batteries, so it is not like the old-fashioned corded phones that worked off the line voltage. The odd thing is that the instructions tell us to install the batteries in case of emergency, and then to REMOVE them after the emergency. Or, use rechargeable batteries all the time. This would all have been useful to include in the promo materials.
