These phones do have a feature to manually turn off the ringer. All you need to do is hold down the "0" button (has a small bell beside the "0") for two seconds and it will display a bell with a slash through it. This indicates that the phone has been placed in silent mode. Press and hold the same key for two seconds again, and it will take it out of silent mode. You can also manually scroll into the settings menu on the phone and change it there as well.
