I got this player a few weeks ago when I got a new LG C8 65" OLED tv. I love it. Its quiet, its fast, it works great. I'm not a product manager nor do I work for panasonic or LG. Nor anything in the industry.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can't comment on the European ratings but I can personally say that I rate this player a 5! I'm not a reviewer or an electronics store employee. I've had many hi-end AV products over the years and just sold my Oppo 103. Hands down this is the BEST Bluray player period with the exception of Panasonics own UB9000 which only adds higher end analog audio capabilities. I also have a UB900 which has nearly identical video performance, you can't really tell the difference except the UB820 will do Dolby Vision and will tone map HDR for TVs that aren't quite able to hit 1000 nits or more. The 5 star ratings are not bogus!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t work for LG! I have a JVC RS600 projector and with this player I can finaly watch 4K Blu Ray HDR movies! I also have an OPPO 205 but the HDR tone mapping on the Panasonic rocks! I wished it could play SACD :( That’s why I gave it a 4.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm an average Joe - I rate based on what the product delivers. In this case, the device does not boast unnecessary features like wireless connectivity or downloadable applications. It delivers extremely high quality picture and sound as described in the product description, so I rated on what they claimed and what I experienced. Not knowing what European ratings you are referencing, I can only assume that some people expect more features - or perhaps there was some sort of region restrictions with the media they were trying? Can't be sure, but I stand behind the rating here in the US.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am a regular Joe videophile. Don't know why21 Europes ratings are 3s. I just picked up mine on 9/21/18. Read my review. Buy it from Best Buy if you don't like it take it back. Thats what I like about BB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.See my 3-star review. It's interesting that I immediately got a Not Helpful response. Negative reviews don't seem to be well received, although to be fair, it's possible that my critic felt that I concentrated too much on a few narrow issues rather than writing a comprehensive review. As you have noted, you'll find reports elsewhere of the shortcomings I mentioned. That said, except possibly for the Oppo, I don't know of any 4K UHD Blu-ray players that are without somewhat significant issues, including buggy firmware; and so I can give this product a faint recommendation since there are few if any better alternatives. Still, though, I had to stop short of saying I'd recommend it to a friend--too big a chance of disappointment.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It was released in Europe a few month ago, but Dolby Vision update came out around the same time as US release (Best Buy start selling them on 8/26/18, and mostly online only). May be some people were tired of waiting for DV update. Also, there are not a lot of sellers who have this model, too. I think that is why only "pros" are reviewing this player. Personally, I am happy with my player (had it only a few weeks).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The America people are more happy. Give it time. I believe it was released in Europe several months ago. We here just did not find all the possible bugs yet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Wow I would have kept the Oppo for the DVD-A & SACD playback..!
