“If this is hooked up to a good receiver why would the 7.1 matter? Wouldn’t the receiver do the decoding or is their some type of advantage I’m not seeing? Thanks”

• The 7.1 outputs are for old receivers without HDMI. If you have a new receiver then you’d run HDMI to the receiver to let it decode the audio.
