“I am using the 7.1 analog outputs, and when I use the channel balance settings, it skips over the subwoofer and when I select it specifically, there's no white noise output. However when I use channel balance tests on a test disc, I do get LFE output.”

Did you select that a sub is present? I use a separate sound processor, but I use an output from the stereo (front) amp, volume variable with that amp's volume, to go to my subwoofer amps. That way I can choose to have subs all the time, whether I'm listening to a surround track or any other input, stereo or otherwise.
