Yes, the parking mode cable is designed to be hardwired only. Thanks, James
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With the Parking cable hard wired (ground, always on power, switched power), the dashcam will be powered for both driving operations and parking operations.

My daughter took the car to have it installed in this way but they were unsuccessful in getting it to work. There is a fuse in line with the wire and I took it out to inspect it before they tried to install, and I had a difficult time to get the fuse to go back into the fuse holder so I suspect that I didn't get it put together correctly before they attempted the install.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The purpose of this cable is you hook it up to your accessory fuse located in your fuse box. That way the dash cam knows when you turn key on and off. This enables it to know when to start and to stop recording. It will also keep the battery inside your device charged.
