Q: Will this hardwire kit work for garmin dash cam 66W?
A: Garmin 010-12530-30 Yes it will, It is made for the 66W.And 65W as well. I installed it in my 2019 KIA Sorento and it works fine.
Q: Do I hard wire it through a fuse tap or directly to the battery?
A: I tapped into the fuse panel with both wires. Just need to find one that is constant power and one that is powered when key is on.
Q: If my power is on even when switch is off does the 65w still record while parked?
A: Yes, the unit can be used while parked.
A: Try underneath the rug on the passenger side of the car.
Q: Why would I need this if my cars power outlet puts out 12 V whether the key is on or off
A: Because it has a module that will disable the camera if the batteries voltage becomes too low. You will drain your battery if plugged into a constant power source.
Q: Is hooking up the parking cable a permanent fixture? or can this easily be undone?
A: It will come off the same way it goes on, not permanent.
Q: Can you just use a 12 volt battery such as a small ATV or motorcycle battery to run this?
A: Yes I believe so..
Q: Is this compatible with a Hybrid?
A: PARKING MODE IS CONTROLLED BY END OF MOTION AND POWER OFF. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TYPE OF ENGINE.
