Attaching a second monitor will in no way impact remote connectivity. That is to say if it works remotely for you now it will continue to work. If it does not currently work remotely adding the second monitor will not enable any sort of remote connectivity. I would suggest looking into enabling remote desktop if you're looking for a way to remote in. Be careful however as enabling remote access to your computer without access rules means anyone else on the internet can also attempt to log in remotely.
