Yes, you can use any of the USB ports in the back of the computer.

Yes, you have to use a slot on the back. The instructions are for laptops. Not for this computer.

There are 2 USB Slots. One in the rear as you mentioned and a second one is located under the speaker marked on the front of the speaker marked "SS" and the USB icon attached
