• I have the Gen 3 Hue hub, and it can be connected via Ethernet to your network. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work through an Ethernet hub or switch before it gets to your router.

• Yes. I have an 8 port ethernet switch in my living room that is fed by a wall drop that is uplinked to my router located near my central home patch panel. I've had it setup this way for years and have not had any problems with any devices.
