You need the Hue HDMI receiver for it to work on a standard tv.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need a "Hue Play Sync Box" to actually synchronize with video from anything other than a PC. (afaik) It's kinda pricey ($230 on 01.24.20) since it came out pretty recently, but BBuy IS including a $50 gift card now, so that lessens the blow a bit. From what I hear, it works great for some people, and not so well for others. It probably comes down to their network/environment. Just try to hard-line anything you can, and keep wireless stuff away from glass, aquariums, etc.

I wanted to do the same thing and found out the hard way..needless to say it went back quickly. Best Buy Magnolia staff even confirmed that the product is very misleading. https://www2.meethue.com/en-us/p/hue-play-hdmi-sync-box-/046677555221

Stream your Xbox to a PC using the Xbox companion app on the PC. From there you can download and use the free hue sync app. I use this all the time
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are fine with tuning the light with the hue app then you are good to go. If you want dynamic light changes sync automatically to colors on the screen..then you need the hue sync box
