A:Answer Pioneer 832 U4k receiver running my dads floor standing speakers from 1985. He said he has never heard them clearer in the past 30 years. You can play virtually any speakers on this receiver. Of course, newer speakers may sound different. I all depends on what you buy. If you have a 5,000 pair of speakers from the 80s or 90s they may sound much better than top of the line HD speakers that cost under 1000. I would recommend to try your current speakers out. I guarantee your speakers will sound excellent on this receiver with the right settings. If you want to try new top of the line speakers and you can live without them, try to return within 7 to 14 days. :-)
