A:AnswerYes...you can wire this up to do that. For a back up camera to come on automatically you must wire the power wire for the camera to your reverse light. When you place the transmission in reverse..that reverse light comes on and signals your stereo to automatically view the back up camera.
For a forward facing camera or any other type you can wire the power wire to a ignition power source. That would be any wire that becomes on when you turn the ignition switch on. At that time the camera will come on and stay on the entire time the ignition switch is on. Your stereo will recieve a signal that a camera is on and available to view. You can using the faceplate select to view that camera any time you wish.
A:AnswerThere is a wire that is not connected correctly. This wire goes to your parking break switch. In order for the DVD function to work the stereo needs to receive a signal from the parking brake switch that indicated the parking brake is set.
SO....try this. Set parking brake. Turn the ignition on. Insert a DVD. The stereo should ask you to release and reset the parking brake. Once the stereo senses that switch going off and on..the DVD should play.
If it does not the wire that goes to the parking brake switch is not connected or is not connected to the correct place. I think that wire is light green.
My parking brake is applied using a pedal on the left side floorboard of my truck. There is only 1 wire going to the switch so it was very easy for me to connect it.
If your car has a handle you pull up to set the parking brake the switch will most likely be located at the back of the parking brake handle. You may have to remove some of the console to find that wire to that switch.
You may have an electronic parking brake installed in your car. If so you can ask one of the technitions at your local dealership for help finding that parking brake switch or find that information in your owners manual.
