Yes you have terrific control of the sound. You have 13 bands to customize the sound you like. You also have bass boost off, low, high. and you also have power boost low, med, high. There generic pre adjusts like voice, orchestra, etc etc i dont use. I go to the menu and choose, sound then adjust each sound band like 5k, 50k, 125k, etc and then save settings. It takes a while of paying with it to get it the way you like. You can easily blow out your speakers if you go max on everything and turn it up loud. You will love this radio...cd's sound great !
