Yes, that is what I do with mine (and my iPod Nano). You can make calls and talk just fine. If you get a call, it just takes over the music you're listening to and then goes back when you're call is done.

You you can answer phone calls with this device. I use my everyday for taking calls, listening to music & my gps. I drive for uber and it's nice that I get turn by turn directions in my ear without the rider hearing. Really shows them I know what I'm doing. amazing device.
