“Would this work on a Surface Pro Windows 8.1 tablet? I am hoping to update the Windows to something more "contemporary."”

• I tried to update my dell inspiron to gigabit with this adapter.(Dell only has 10/100 adapter). It converted my USB-3 port to 10/100 ethernet. Peripherals connected to my computer didn’t recognize it as Gigabit
