Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the designation of the memory chip should match the chip being replaced, ie. if you are replacing DDR3 12800, you need to purchase DDR3 12800. The numbers I believe refer to the pin connectors in the chip, hence a 12 would not plug into a 10 socket. Some may be cross compatible, but you need to check with the motherboards manufacturer before installing another chip.
