Yes, fans and speakers are built in. I've had quieter fans on ones at the gym, but with headphones or the iFit on you don't hear it.

For treadmills the noise increases when the speed of the user increases, to help dampen that noise we recommend using an equipment mat. Especially if the treadmill is on a hardwood floor.
