QuestionWe got this as a gift. We do NOT have wifi or internet connection. If we pay for cellular backup will it still work without wifi?

- Answer Yes you will need internet connection for the camera. It will not record without internet connection.

- Answer No, but.... yes... I wish Ring would make a wired interface, but I did find on Youtube, a video how to turn a door switch into an interface. You're basically wiring across the reed switch, and not using a magnet. Look it up, I did it with our system at the office, all 10 of our motion sensors were in series, so I only needed the one interface.

QuestionWhat if you have pets? how do the sensors work or can you set the sensitivity so that it recognizes the difference between small animals like cats and an human? If it can't be adjusted then my cat would have fun with it just to aggravate me when I'm gone

- Answer This was also a huge concern for me as well. I have 3 pets. A dog and 2 cats. The motion sensor can be adjusted to not trigger if an animal is moving around in your home. Per the ring specs on the motion sensor..it will not trigger for an animal that is less than 20 pounds on med setting or 50 pounds on low setting. I have my sensor on low setting and I have had no false alarms so far.

- Answer The motion sensor is optional. You could go with a camera as well to replace the motion sensor if you so choose.

QuestionI'm considering both the Home Security Kit and outdoor cameras as a new system. Do I understand that the cameras do not communicate with the base station? If so, then will I be monitoring the base as one system and each camera I install?

- Answer I just purchased the system and I really like it. I did not get the cameras, already had them with another system, but if you are thinking about buying I can say they have excellent customer service. At least when I have called them and I understand that they offer a monitoring service and cloud storage for your cameras. I don't know if the cameras communicate with the base or not, but I'm sure if you called their customer service they would be able to answer your question. Good luck and good choice.

QuestionI want to replace an IQ Panel from Brinks and have a number of ZWave switches and lights. Will Ring/App connect to them for function? Can the lights be programmed to come on automatically? Most are GE and JASCO.

- Answer I believe GE and Leviton smart lighting Z Wave devices work with Ring. I believe you may need Ring Smart Lighting Bridge or Ring Alarm Base Station to connect these to Z Wave network. If you have an IQ Panel, you have to first remove the devices from Brinks IQ Panel. I assume you need installer PIN (Different from Master PIN) to be able to do this. Once you remove the devices from Brinks panel, you will be able to connect them to Ring Z Wave network.

QuestionDo pets set off the sensors?

- Answer Yes and no, depends on the size of the pet and how high you mount the motion sensor. My cats set it off when it was on a shelf 5 feet from the ground, once I mounted it above a door around 7 feet high they stopped setting it off. My dog will always trigger it (65lb), but she’s in the crate when we leave the house so its not an issue.

- Answer For this alarm system, all supporting devices for the system are mounted indoor, no outdoor mounting is necessary.

- Answer There is if you want professional monitoring, I believe $10.00 a month. I have a system at work and at home, we self monitor. The App works great for that.

- Answer There are not pet alleys on the motion sensors. You can, however, dial back the sensitivity in the Ring App. Monitoring is $10 if paid monthly or $100 for the year if paid all at once.
