Hello TedsQuestions, Great question! If you subscribe to a Ring Protect plan, your Base Station will also have cellular backup to protect your home even if the internet goes down. A Ring Protect subscription with professional monitoring is required to have cellular backup. When your internet goes down, your Ring Alarm will automatically switch over to cellular backup. You may have limited app functionality while your Base Station is on cellular backup, but you can still arm and disarm your Ring Alarm. If you have professional monitoring, cellular backup will ensure the signal gets out. Here is a helpful article with more information regarding the Base Station, and it's wifi and Ethernet compatibility: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040525211-Ring-Alarm-Base-Station. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback/experiences with Ring. We invite you to reach out at https://community.ring.com/ if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Alarm cellular backup question. Thank you, Alexis with Ring
