“We are thinking about getting 2 ring doorbells, 1 for our front door and 1 for our back door, my first question is will motion set off this chime or do people actually have to push on the doorbell to activate the chime?”

We have the same setup. You can choose to alert on motion, as well as button press. We have silent hours set so motion is disabled on the chime during the night and only alerts to our cell phones.
