“Do I need the ring chimes to go with the ring doorbell? It maybe a stupid question but I really don’t know anything about this and want to purchase the correct devices.”

• You do not need the chime to go with the doorbell but if you do not have your cell phone by you... You may not hear it ring unless yours is hard wired. I am using the battery doorbells so the chime works for me incase my phone is on silent.

• You can wire the Ring to a current doorbell wired system with a chime and will not require this unit. However, if you do not have it wired you will need the chime so you can hear the doorbell ring when you have your phone charging or off.
