  • QuestionDoes it work with 5G wifi? My last camera is now inoperable since they upgraded the wifi to 5G in my area. I am looking to replace the nonfunctioning one. Also what is the size of the unit? I need something fairly small.

    • Answer Hello Terri145, Smart phones and tablets using to a 5G cellular network will work with the Ring app. Also, Ring Stick Up Cam is only compatible with 2.4GHz wifi networks. Wifi routers broadcast signals in the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency. A 2.4 GHz connection travels further at a lower speed. A 5 GHz frequency provides faster speeds at a shorter range.     • Answer Hello Anonymous, Thank you for reaching out to us. With a Ring Protect Plan, the Ring Stickup Camera will record motion that you can look at later. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device.     • Answer Yes. And easy to convert. If you do switch to a solar panel, the app may ask you if you want to switch your camera to "wired mode" select "no" because it must stay in battery mode for the solar panel to charge the battery.

    • Answer Hello Amber, Good question! The Ring Stick Up Wired uses a Barrel Plug style indoor/outdoor power supply (included), so there is no internal battery on this device. Further, it is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connections @ 2.4GHz. If it gets unplugged it will lose it's wifi connection and not be able to communicate with your wifi network or the Ring App to send notifications or record videos. Motion detection is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home Windows generally block heat sources, which means when the Ring device uses PIR (Passive Infrared) to detect motion, the Ring device will not be able to detect the motion through a window.
